Rasam


Ingredients :

1 cup chopped tomatoes
1 cup chopped onion
3-4 chopped green chillies
1 sprig curry leaves
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 broken dried red chilly
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp chopped garlic
1 tsp chopped ginger
1/4 tsp turmeric pd
1/4 tsp Asafoetida (hing)
1/2 cup boiled Tuvar dal
1/4 cup jaggery
1 tbsp Rasam pd
1 tbsp soaked tamarind pulp
1 tbsp chopped corriander leaves
Oil
Salt to taste

Method :

Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, red chilly, black pepper, hing, curry leaves, green chillies, ginger and garlic and onion. Saute for few mins. Add tomatoes and cook till oil separates. Add 2 cups of water and let it simmer.

Add tamarind pulp and Rasam pd. Then add tuvar dal and jaggery. Cook till boils. Garnish with corriander leaves. Serve with steamed rice.
